Monthly Archive for August, 2010

Turning

I made Shepherd’s Pie yesterday (just for the one shepherd) which is a sure sign autumn is on the way. Or it could just be that I’ve got a cold and a limited culinary repetoire. August can get to you. It’s supposed to be blazing but hasn’t been for years has it? Blackberries come out earlier and earlier. Soon I will be writing to the Daily Mail offering them these observations.
Before life gets that bad – what have you all been reading? I read:
Trespass by Rose Tremain
The Sandman by Barbara Gowdy
The Children’s Room by A.S. Byatt
and The Reluctant Fundamentalist.
Quite a varied lot of reading and thoroughly enjoyable all of it. I wished that Tespass had been a bit longer – read it really quickly. And maybe The Children’s Room should have been a bit shorter or should have contained a quick guide to the cast of thousands all the billowy girls and blades of boys.
Hope you are looking forward to book group as much as I am.
